Re: MA Board of Ed Chair Paul Reville's First Official Remarks

Mr. Millot,
I was doing a search for some material on Paul Reville and came across your September 2007 article, MA Board of Ed Chair Paul Reville's First Official Remarks.
We can talk about the major topic of your article at another time (Reville and NCLB) but I was a little surprised to read the following:
As founding executive director of the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education (MBAE), Paul Reville was one of several architects of the 1993 law. Republican Governor William Weld's education guy, Steve Wilson, who went on to found the EMO Advantage Schools (merged into Mosaica), and Democrat Mark Roosevelt, a state representative who is now superintendent in Pittsburgh (after training at Broad), are two others.
I can imagine where the information came from but it's wrong. The Weld education plan, as well as the statutory language of the legislation, was something that I authored. Weld had an Execution Secretary, then Piedad Roberston, as a result of some other legislation that I had authored for the Governor. I then served as the Undersecretary for Policy & Planning until I became Secretary in 1995. Steve Wilson joined the Administration after the proposals had been made, the bill written and the legislative hearing had taken place.
If you want some confirmation of this, I think you can find this link helpful -- or simply go to www.BostonHerald.com and search "Mike Sentance" in the archives. The 1993 article is here:

Sincerely,
Mike Sentance
