Another pundit catches up with NCLB's real prospects.
In about a week, the conventional wisdom on NCLB II has gone from "no big deal" to "questionable." Along
with quite a few other education policy wonks, right of center/DLC
Democrat and EdSector co-founder Andrew Rotherham's has reconsidered
the situation and decided NCLB reauthorization is going to be tough.
His April 6 summary for NPR is late but worth hearing - especially if
you need to hear the conventional wisdom before you act.
The question for
the industry is how to build a winning strategy from the middle -
gaining new support among the Democrats, but without losing old allies
among the Republicans.
If there was
ever reason or a time for the several trade groups to look past their
parochial interests and work together, this is it.
