Announcement: Student Discipline Programs School-Wide Due July 9 (June 21), Tolleson ESD, AZ

Their Description: The intent of the Tolleson Elementary School District is to obtain an experienced and qualified contractor(s) to provide and train in Student Discipline program for K-8 schools....

The program must be a school-wide and be adaptable for grades K-8 including specials education populations. The program must have a positive reinforcement component that is both whole group and individual in capability. The program must provide intensive on-site training to the entire staffs to ensure proper implementation. The program must have a accountability component that measures its success.

Our Thoughts:  Maybe an opportunity for an EMO to spin out a new “stand alone” service from its school model and operating experience? ••••

Announcement: Web-Based Tutoring and Test Preparation Due July 11 (Jun 26) Roosevelt ESD, AZ

Their Description: Arizona Department of Education, fifteen of the (Roosevelt School) District’s twenty-one schools are not meeting state standards. ADE has stated that the District is “in need of major repair” and that it was going to take hard work, focus, strong leadership, and consistency to make the needed changes....

The (district) requests proposals for a web-based tutoring and/or web-based test preparation program which will facilitate improved student performance in all test areas of Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS). The ideal program may be used as a teacher aided instructional tool or as a one-on-one tutoring resource with minimal guidance and will provide supplemental instruction that is aligned to the Arizona State Standards.... The content of the program must prepare all students, particularly those at-risk, to improve their scores on standardized tests and criterion-referenced tests, with specific focus on Reading, Language Arts and Mathematics.

Our Thoughts: Online SES providers should be taking every opportunity to diversify their business byond the NCLB funding stream, with new sources of revenue for existing services and even modified offerings.••••

Announcement: Education Services (State Hospital Nueva Vista School) Due July 17 (Jun) Arizona Health Services

Their Description: Arizona Department of Health Services intends to establish a Contract for Educational Services for the Arizona State Hospital.... The Neuva Vista School, is a free standing school in the eyes of the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) with a CTDS number.... The Hospital provides the Contractor with classroom space required by law; consumable supplies and materials needed to facilitate instruction, as well as other needed therapies and services that are required for students...

This service is to provide instruction according to curriculum standards set by  ADE and according to requirements set in aq Special Education Students current individual IEP.... The Contractor shall provide daily individualized instruction for students according to weekly lesson plans that are developed by the teacher....

Our Thoughts: There are many “public school” opportunities outside of state and local education agencies. Justice, labor, health, and human services agencies must perform similar functions with particular student populations. In some cases the need is management of a whole school, But every one of these schools needs the same kinds of inputs as a “regular” public school. ••••
