The types of activities include, but are not limited to:

• Budget ...
Our Thoughts: All SES is not federally funded. This RFP offers a low-stakes evaluation of tutoring services under ideal conditions: a direct tie to classrooms; close working relationships with teachers; and opportunities to become an integral part of the school’s operations and culture. This is precisely the direction argued for the federal SES prorgam in the New Education Economy® editorial and edbizbuzz.com. ••••
Announcement: Manufacturing Engineering Technologies Program Due July 23 (Jul 9) Maryland Department of Education
Their Description: The Division of Career Technology and Adult Learning (DCTAL) is seeking the services
of a consultant(s) to use the standards provided by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) to develop common course syllabi for The Competitive Manufacturing Enterprise and Process Design and Development courses. These are the first and second courses respectively in a sequence of a minimum of four (4) courses that comprise the Manufacturing Engineering Technologies Career and Technology Education program to be offered at public high schools in Maryland. The common course syllabi should be aligned to national and state technical and academic standards and should include sample learning activities and assessments. be expended by June 30, 2008....
The project director must show evidence of the ability to develop, implement and evaluate curriculum and related resources. The person must also have documented experience in the field of manufacturing or have documented teaching experience in manufacturing at the secondary or at the postsecondary level. In addition, the project director must have access to a manufacturing training facility that grants a minimum of fifteen trainees access to a fully operational Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Mill.
Our Thoughts: This looks as “wired” (predetermined) as any RFP. Nevertheless, the time is not far off when training for high tech manufacturing jobs becomes a higher priority than putting every high school student on a track to a college and for many, vague job prospects, while solid technical jobs remain unfilled and the industrial side of our economy moves overseas. ••••
